Mucopolysaccharides

GAG-Based Support for Joint, Cartilage & Connective Tissue Health.

Mucopolysaccharides, commonly referred to as glycosaminoglycans (GAGs), are naturally occurring components of the extracellular matrix found in cartilage, bone and other connective tissues. Their unique structure enables them to interact with proteins, minerals and water, contributing to the properties of connective-tissue matrices.

Titan Biotech’s Mucopolysaccharides are sourced from bovine and chicken sources and are suitable for nutraceutical and functional nutrition applications.

How They Function

GAGs carry negatively charged groups that attract water and positively charged ions. In cartilage, they are associated with proteoglycans  contributing to water retention and the hydrated matrix required for cartilage to withstand compressive forces.

They are also involved in the organisation and function of extracellular matrices in tissues such as bone, tendons and ligaments.

Applications

  • Joint & Cartilage Nutrition – For products targeting joint structure and mobility
  • Bone Nutrition – For formulations focused on bone and connective-tissue health
  • Active Lifestyle – For nutritional products designed around musculoskeletal support
  • Healthy Ageing – For products targeting maintenance of mobility and musculoskeletal function
  • Nutraceuticals – Suitable for capsules, tablets, powders and other delivery formats
